2023-07-19 reviews

VOOPOO’s DRAG series has always been a leader of the pack in the vape mod market.

Their latest addition to the DRAG family is the DRAG M100S, which can be seen as a slimmer sibling to the DRAG4.

It’s a single-battery mod that takes either a single 18650 battery or a 21700 battery, and it can pump out up to a whopping 100W. The M100S is armed with the GENE.TT 2.0 chip, offering SMART, RBA, ECO, and TC modes. It also features a physical switch with multiple functions.

The DRAG M100S full kit also comes paired with the impressive UFORCE-L tank. So, is the M100S a worthy addition to VOOPOO’s esteemed DRAG series? Let’s find out.

VOOPOO DRAG M100S Kit

Design & Build Quality

The M100S, being the single-battery version of the DRAG 4, bears a striking resemblance to its dual-battery counterpart. Side by side, they’re like two peas in a pod. The M100S is a tad taller and broader than the DRAG 4, but it’s not as deep, thanks to its single battery design.

The dimensions sit at 91mm tall, 30mm wide, and 36mm deep, which is quite impressive considering that the M100S can accommodate a 21700 battery. The rounded sides and back fit comfortably in the hand, making it a pleasure to use.

It has that typically premium DRAG styling with a brushed metal finish, and the overall look hasn’t deviated much from the DRAG 4. As with most of the DRAG series products, it comes in two different finishes, either matte or wood, and there are plenty of color options with both. There is not currently a resin finish like with the DRAG 4, but maybe that will come further down the line.

The matte finish series comes in three colors: Silver & Black, Red & Black, and Cyan & Blue. The wood series comes in two colors: Black & Darkwood and Antique Brass & Padauk, and is a bit more down-to-earth with the styling.

On the front side of the M100S are three buttons, a 1.25″ color display, and a physical switch. The buttons are firm and responsive, with minimal movement or rattle. The crisp and clear display features the same UI as the DRAG 4 and other recent VOOPOO devices.

I love that VOOPOO includes physical switches to lock the entire device on the new DRAG series. It makes it very useful when traveling to prevent any accidental firing.

The last thing on the front of the device, just below the switch, is the Type-C charging port. However, you might not have to use this as the M100S uses replaceable batteries that can be charged externally, which is what we always recommend.

The battery compartment is the standard affair and can be accessed from the device’s base. It’s a hinged door that’s opened with a switch. It feels very solid and in line with previous DRAG devices.

Overall I really like the design of the M100S. As with all DRAG devices, it has exceptional build quality and looks fantastic.

Features & Functions

The M100S is a single-battery device that can utilize either 217000 or 18650 batteries (with the included adapter).

As it’s basically a single-battery version of the DRAG 4, it has identical features and settings. The only difference is that the M100S has a maximum wattage output of 100W, compared to the DRAG 4’s 177W.

The M100S is also powered by the GENE.TT 2.0 chip. This chip offers a variety of modes, including SMART, RBA, ECO, and TC modes.

  • SMART mode – automatically detects the coil’s resistance and suggests an appropriate wattage to prevent you from burning your coil.

  • RBA mode – allows you to set your own wattage regardless of the coil.

  • ECO mode – designed to save battery life by reducing the wattage output.

  • TC mode – allows you to vape with temperature control for Nickel, Titanium, and Stainless Steel coils.

There’s no TCR mode for any of you temp control lovers that require that finer adjustment.

It features a physical switch that can be set to a few different functions. By default, it locks the entire device, but you can change this in the settings menu to either lock only the wattage or clear the puff counter.

The M100S supports Type-C fast charging. It can be fully charged in just 1.5 hours, which is quite impressive for a single battery mod.

Overall, the M100S has all the features and functions you’d expect from a DRAG device.

VOOPOO DRAG M100S Kit - UForce L Tank

UFORCE-L TANK

If you opt for the M100S kit, you’ll also get the UFORCE-L Tank. This is the same tank we covered in detail in our review of the Argus GT II.

The UFORCE-L Tank is a 24.6mm diameter tank with a 5.5 ml capacity with the bubble glass (and 2 ml with the straight glass).

It features a convenient slide-to-fill top-fill system that makes refilling a breeze.

It also has a unique top airflow design. The airflow enters the tank through two large adjustable airflow slots at the top and is channeled down to the bottom of the coil. This makes it completely leak resistant.

VOOPOO DRAG M100S Kit - UForce L Tank and Coils

The UFORCE-L comes with two of VOOPOO’s new PnP coils:

  • PnP-TW15 coil (0.15Ω) – 55-75W

  • PnP-TW20 coil (0.20Ω) – 40-55W

These new coils have purple o-rings instead of the red o-rings on the older PnP coils. However, the UFORCE-L is compatible with all PnP coils, so plenty of options exist.

Performance

When it comes to performance, the DRAG M100S really shines. From the moment I fired up the device, I was impressed by its power and consistency.

The GENE.TT 2.0 chip does a fantastic job of delivering a fast and accurate output, and I never experienced any misfires or delays.

I primarily used it in SMART mode, which makes things a breeze. It automatically detects the resistance of the coil and sets the appropriate wattage. I think this feature is such a lifesaver for new vapers.

When I did venture into RBA mode and played around with the wattage settings, the adjustments were noticeable.

VOOPOO DRAG M100S Kit

The ECO mode setting is not for me, as it seems to slightly dull the power in the high-wattages. It seems to lower the voltage irrespective of the wattage you have set. That being said, it should come in handy if you’re trying to conserve battery life.

I didn’t test it in TC mode, as I didn’t have the appropriate setup, and who even uses TC mode these days?

As for the performance of the two coils, they were both excellent.

The PnP TW20 0.2Ω Mesh Coil sets itself to 50W in smart mode (which is right in the middle of the suggested range of 45-55W). This worked perfectly for me, and I had no desire to ramp it up any higher.

The power is almost instant, and the flavor produced from the mesh coil is crisp and clean. Even at 50W, it can really chuck out some vapor.

The PnP TW15 0.15Ω Mesh Coil did need a little helping hand with the power. I felt this needed to reach the upper echelons of the range at 70W to really deliver that punchy flavor.

VOOPOO DRAG M100S Kit Coil

As with the 0.2Ω coil, the flavor delivered is fantastic, and this coil really is a cloud beast.

I’m a fan of the UFORCE-L tank, and I think it’s VOOPOO’s beast to date. The top airflow is easy to adjust, and I’ve never had any issues with leaking, thanks to this design.

Overall, the performance of the DRAG M100S and the UFORCE-L Tank is top-notch. As you’d expect, it’s as good as the DRAG 4 or ARGUS GT II.

VOOPOO really knows how to make excellent vape mods, and the M100S is another outstanding addition to the DRAG family.

VOOPOO DRAG M100S Kit

Verdict

There’s really not much I can criticize the DRAG M100S Kit for. It is an excellent single-battery device that comes paired with a fantastic sub-ohm tank.

The M100S has a compact and ergonomic design, coupled with a high-quality build and attractive finish. It’s a worthy addition to VOOPOO’s esteemed DRAG series.

The UFORCE-L Tank and included coils provide excellent flavor and vapor production. The PnP coil range also gives you great flexibility.

If you’re in the market for a compact, high-performing single 21700 mod, the M100S is an outstanding choice. I’d also recommend the full kit because the UFORCE-L is quite the force of a sub-ohm tank and is worth the investment.
